General Information & Things To Do

Coon Rapids Dam Regional Park is a 446 acre park along the Mississippi River in Anoka County Minnesota. The various paved and natural trails pass through woodlands, restored grasslands and along the river, offering excellent opportunities for walking, running, or biking in the warmer months and cross country skiing in the winter. There is also a bridge directly over the Coon Rapids Dam that lets you cross the river into an adjoining park In Brooklyn Park, MN.
There are plenty of shore-fishing opportunities on the River itself or on Cenaiko Lake.Cenaiko Lake is stocked with trout, so a trout stamp is needed in addition to the normal MN fishing license.
The park also offers a number of pavilions and picnic tables, perfect for enjoying a picnic lunch along the river.

Wildlife Spotting

Ducks and geese are a common sight along the river, and a variety of other birds are present in the spring, summer and fall. Hawks often perch on the power lines that run across the river next to the dam. Although not nearly as common, bald eagles and beavers have also been spotted.
